We implemented a new unit based on a licensed process of IFP company to the existing ethylene plant.
A part of the pyrolysis gas of the ethylene unit is so-called C3 pyrolysis fraction also containing MAPD (methylacetylene and propadiene) besides produced propylene.
The new unit selectively hydrogenated the pyrolysis products, namely MAPD, to propylene. The key part of the process was installation of hydrogenation reactors packed with a selective hydrogenation catalyst. The feed was mixed with the required flow of hydrogen, it entered the reactors, where the exothermic reaction occurred, and the reactors operated in an adiabatic regime.
The execution consisted of preparation of the Basis of Design for the purchase of the license, completion of the project documentation. It also included leading all the negotiation with the licensor and to obtain approval for the documentation from the licensor. Furthermore, Intecha carried out the entire construction and commissioning and start-up of the unit under the supervision of the licensor.
