DCPD (Dicyklopentadiene) is produced by a technology developed by ORLEN Unipetrol in cooperation with the University of Chemistry and Technology, Prague. DCPD can be used for the futher production of polymer materials, resins and chemical specialities, which are used for example, in the production of wind turbine propellers, automotive and ship components and skeletons, colored asphalts, adhesives, dyes, optical fibers, special lenses, medical components, packing materials or sanitary products for kitchens and and bathrooms.

On the basis of the customer´s Basis of Design Intecha executed the job in the form a „Lump Sum Turnkey “project. Project scope was the processing of design and operational documentation, environmental impact assessment (EIA), the complete construction of a new plant for the DCPD production, pre-commissioning, commissioning, start-up and operation of the DCPD plant. The plant includes four 500 m3 storage tanks, a road loading terminal and an off gas disposal unit was installed.
As part of the job an administrative building was built with a fully equipped control room, substations, laboratory, storages, offices and building technical equipment. As part of the job, training simulators for DCPD production were also delivered for operators training, allowing to simulate stable operation for different DCPD qualities, as well as the plant start-up or shut-down.
